What I Ate Wednesday No. 12 + Dinner At Jamie’s

I have now been at university for three weeks.

Although it actually feels like longer! And at the same time I still feel like I’m going back home, that I’m only on a residential course or something similar. It’s a strange feeling to try to get your head around.

Now as it is a Wednesday it is indeed that time of the week again…

It’s time for Jenn’s wonderful WIAW. I just want to say a massive thank you to her for creating this blogging “event”! I simply love the way it brings food bloggers together every week and I have to admit that I love having a nose around what everyone’s been eating 🙂

My day started with one of my favourite breakfasts:

A bowl of weetabix mush with a mini tin of raspberries mixed in. Delicious! Could only have been improved by fresh raspberries instead of tinned ones. Still tasty though 🙂

Although for me Wednesday’s aren’t normally that busy today we had an extra talk (on plagiarism – fascinating :-P) so lunch had to be chomped down quickly.

A whole wheat bagel topped with honey, served with a side of grapes. I quite like having sweet lunches sometimes 🙂

The real gem food-wise today however, is dinner.

As it was Trelawney’s birthday the weekend before last her parents decided to treat her and a friend (me!) to a meal out. And we chose Jamie’s Italian.

It was a good choice.

Because it’s an Italian restaurant I couldn’t have a meal that didn’t involve pasta (like I need any excuse anyway!) and so pasta did I have:

I had a really lovely dish of Prawn Linguine. The tomato sauce was really delicious. I’m also a big fan of Jamie’s because you can order smaller portions of the pasta dishes which is perfect for me as I always find restaurant portions too big!

Trelawney had a dish of Mushroom Panzerotti, essentially mushroom ravioli. She loved it!

All in all a really fantastic meal: good food and great company 🙂

Now I know this post is not very wordy but I’m currently writing part 2 of my chronic pain story (Part 1 here) so it’s taking up all of my writing time!

Halfway to the weekend everybody 🙂

What was the best thing you ate today? What do you think about restaurant portions, too big, too small, just right?

  1. I hate how big restaurant portions are sometimes! I often have a tendency to just keep eating until everything on the plate is gone and about ten minutes later I’m so full it hurts. So I like eating smaller portions and if I’m still hungry after, then I eat a little something else until I’m comfortabley full haha I can’t hold back when I’m eating good food 😛

  2. JAmies looks FABS!!! in the US portions are HUGE!! unless its an upscale restaurant.. but comapre dto london the sizes here are MUCH smaller and more rational!

  3. I would so steal your friend’s mushroom ravioli when she wasn’t looking! haha! LOVE that they serve smaller pasta portions! the conventional serving at restaurants is always SO HUGE! I always need to box it up to go!

  4. Great wiaw eats. I think some restaurant’s the portions are too big, this is annoying as I tend to clean my plate!

  5. I love WIAW though I’ve never participated….mainly b/c I’m too lazy lol but your dinner looks AWESOME 😀 yum. The best thing I ate (yesterday now) was lasagna it was cheesy, saucy and delish!

  6. Wow – that pasta dish looks amazing! I think most restaurant portions are a bit big, but I usually manage to eat most of it, especially if there’s pasta involved 🙂 I wish restaurants would serve more veggies though.
I’m looking forward to your next post.

  7. I think restaurant portions nutritionally are too large, but price wise, I like the bang for your buck type of thing 🙂
